Good day, I applied for a tax residency certificate approx 3 weeks ago, via post. How can I track the progress of my application or even confirmation that it was received?

Thank you.

Hi @Arushni,

If you mailed your certificate of residency form to us. It can take up to 28 days once received in our office to be actioned. So, you will need to add additional time for postage.

You would need to speak to us about the progress of your certificate of residency especially if it's passed the 28 days.

I applied for my tax residency certificate in mid November, and still haven't received it. I am very close to having the tax deducted by my overseas employer, which is really not ideal. I called the ATO a month ago before going overseas, and they said it was "in the queue to be processed" and there is no way to speed up the process. Surely something so simple can be done quicker than in 3+ months?! How else can we get this form processed? I'm overseas and it's impossible to get through on the phone, I need it done ASAP!

It would be really helpful if we could receive some form of acknowledgement of receipt of the application. I sent my application for tax residency with registered post, so I know it arrived at your office 7 weeks ago today. Holding the line and hearing there is a 45min waiting time surely cannot be the best/only way to get an update?

Hi @maddie147

You did the right thing to send by registered post so you know we received it.

Speaking to us isn't ideal because you do have to wait but it's the best way to get an update once you get through. If you'd like to leave us feedback about the process I recommend completing our online feedback form.
