Hi all,

I've started working from home full time, and I've converted a bedroom into my working space. It is not used for any other purpose.

What, if any of the following can I claim as deductions on my income tax?

  • Water
  • Electricity
  • Gas
  • Rates
  • Insurance
  • Building depreciation

Is there anything else I can claim?

And if the answer is yes, how do I calculate the deduction?

If at some point in the future I need to use the room for other purposes at other times of the day, does that affect my ability to claim deductions during my working hours?

  • it was necessary for you to work from home because your employer doesn't provide you with an alternative place to work from
