I currently have STSL taken out of my fortnightly income even tho all my HECS / HELP debts are paid? How do I stop this and is there any way to recover any of my overpayment of STSL?

Hi @PistolP373,

To stop paying the extra tax for your STSL you'll need to submit a new withholding declaration. Answer 'no' at Q6 when it asks if you have a study loan.

The extra amounts that have already been withheld are included with the normal tax you pay and go towards your tax liabilities at the end of the financial year. If you have anything extra left over when you lodge your return you'll get a refund then.

Check out our article for more detail on how it all works.
