On a Saturday night, I was looking through myGov and noticed I had an overdue payment. It was an "income tax 001". I went through and paid the full amount that was owed. After paying it said I had another payment due, so I paid that as well. After it was paid I went back to the home screen and it was still there. It was at that moment I realised I had just paid the same thing twice and it has not gone away. Will this be amended and the extra payment returned to my account?

Hi @conyconcon,

Ah that's a bit annoying!

So payments to us take about 4 business days to process and show on your account. After this, if your account is showing up in credit you can either:

  • Leave it there and it'll be taken into out when you lodge your next tax return
  • Speak to us to have this refunded
  • Have your tax agent request the refund on your behalf (if you use one).
