Case: an Australian receive income in an investment in shares in Brazil (for example) and was taxed in that country. He lives in Australia and pays taxes here. Is he allowed to offset theses taxes in his tax return? Important: 1) there is no tax treaty between Australian and Brazil 2) I could not find in Australian Government Website that the lack of treaty would be an issue in a such case, but I would like to be sure about it.
