if the tax payed by not using TFN could I still get tax return?

If you don't supply a TFN then tax must be withheld by employer (at 47%) and forwarded to the ATO. This tax is not lost. Once you lodge a tax return (suggest you apply for a TFN before then) all the tax withheld by your employer is used to pay your tax liability assessment for the year. Anything left over will be refunded to you.
