When changing from an employee to contractor it’s advisable to check Employee or contractor page on the Business website.
Where the contract conditions meet the contactor requirements the worker may still be entitled to super, you can read more about this and if you'll be entitled to super on our Super for contractors page.
If the ABN Lookup website is showing your ABN as cancelled, you’ll need to follow this up the Australian Business Register to determine reason for cancellation and if you’re eligible to have the ABN re-activated.
If you operated under a cancelled ABN, the business you work for is not able to accept this and will be required to withhold tax from your payment under Withholding if ABN not provided. The withholding will be at the top rate of tax and pay this to us.
