HI,

I have a client who is an australian resident for tax purposes, he receieves a UK pension with deductible UPP amount - no tax is withheld.

Is there a point when this becomes non-assessable in Australia?

E.g he reaches pension age in UK so this is now no longer assessable income in the UK or he reaches pension age in Aus?

I have read over the information regarding this on the ATO and found this.

"If you are an Australian resident and received income from overseas, you must show your assessable foreign income here, even if tax was taken out of the income in the foreign country." - which implies it is only required to be declared if it is deemed assessable in the foreign country.
