I am an Australian citizen and would like to purchase property in Australia with my foreign wife. She is overseas and does not yet have a visa. We intend to apply for a 309 partner visa.

Read the hyperlink (FIRB and exemptions) in the link I replied with. It states

"Spouses of Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens and holders of Australian permanent visas do not require foreign investment approval when purchasing residential real estate as joint tenants."

Thanks for that. Similar, the other question relates to spouses who already have an 820 visa and are resident in Australia. My question relates to my wife who does not have a partner visa yet and is resident overseas.

I'm seeking clarity on whether we can buy property together prior to obtaining a visa.

Thanks again.
