Hi there, me and my partner is currently looking to purchase an investment home in Melbourne and this will be my partner’s first home and this will be my second home. However, my partner is still on graduate visa and I am an Australian citizen so my question is if we buy a house together do we still have to pay for foreign tax when purchasing the house? Thank you

Hi @lyna166,

This sounds very exciting!

In short, yes.

If your partner had a temporary resident visa or a bringing visa and they've applied for a permanent resident visa, then they could look at what's called an exemption certificate.
