I have a few items I have been given for free from a primary school (old keyboard, mice, etc)

an I'm looking to sell them online, do I have to pay tax and if so, how?

Hi @Swisskeys,

This is a little tricky based on the limited info we have here.

Selling things on a one-off/ hobby kind of basis where you're not intending to carry on a business and make a profit isn't usually considered taxable. It'd depend on how business-like your activities are.

If you do need to declare the income but you're not carrying on a bussiness you'd declare it at the 'other income' section of your return. You can either pay the tax after you lodge your return if you get a tax bill or you can make prepayments.
