My husband has recently been seconded to a different role that requires him to travel to a different work location. His contract states his usual place of employment is unchanged (let's call this Office A). However, he currently spends 4 days per week at the other work location (let's call this Office B) and travels to Office A for meetings 1-2 times per week.

My questions are:

  1. Can he claim travel between Office A and Office B and vice versa?
  2. On days he starts at Office B, travels to Office A for meetings and then drives home, can he claim the travel between Office A and home?
  3. On the rare occasion he travels from home to Office A, then later in the day travels to Office B and from there travels home - can he claim home to Office A?

Thank you.

Hi @mduggan,

In general, he'd be able to claim trips between his workplaces. Trips between office and home aren't usually claimable.

We've got trips you can and can not claim on our website with examples you might find useful.

So, assuming there aren't any exceptions (e.g. transporting bulky equipment), to answer your questions:

  1. yes
  2. no
  3. no
