Hello, I left Australia in 2017 and closed my bank account with the commonwealth as well as my superannuation account when it had been paid back to me.

i have since received an email from a solicitor at a previous place of employment to advise me I am owed super.

i have completed a ‘searching for lost super’ form and posted this to the ATO from the United Kingdom but I’m not sure what to expect now! Will I hear from the ATO?

I have tried to log into the ATO app, it asks me to enter a code from the myGov app but I can’t access my account as it’s not registered to my device, I’ve tried to create a new account but it says my email address is already registered so I’ve tried using a new email address to create a new account but then I don’t receive the registration emails! I’m at my wits end! It seems impossible to track down my lost super and it’s quite a lot of money!

any help would be really appreciated! Thanks!

Hi @Micheala88,

Hmm it sounds like it's unpaid super not necessarily lost super. Did the solicitor mention if they had reported it?

I understand you're overseas now, and this can make accessing our online services difficult. There are other ways to report the employer for the unpaid super, it may be worthwhile getting more details from the solicitor that advised it was underpaid.

There is a great page for unpaid super and what you can do that you may find helpful.
