Hi, I am a licensed second-hand dealer that buys/sells second-hand goods as a soletrader.
The distances I travel in my car vary from 10km-400km to purchase/deliver these goods (leaving personal use of the vehicle to <10% per financial year).
What are the vehicle expenses that I claim when I lodge my personal tax return?
The ones I am aware of are:
- Vehicle Logbook Method (https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals-and-families/income-deductions-offsets-and-records/deductions-you-can-claim/cars-transport-and-travel/motor-vehicle-and-car-expenses/expenses-for-a-car-you-own-or-lease)
- Vehicle Depreciation (https://www.ato.gov.au/tax-and-super-professionals/for-tax-professionals/prepare-and-lodge/tax-time/tax-time-toolkits/tax-time-toolkit-small-business/small-business-guides/motor-vehicle-expenses#ato-Depreciationdeclineinvalueofamotorvehicle)
Additionally, can I claim both in that Financial Year?
