Mobile Phone % split for work/personal use

I'm currently looking at replacing my mobile phone. a couple of questions have come up that have an impact on how much I spend

to save $ I'm looking at getting a refurbished phone - is the asset life still 3 years?

Phone's these days do a lot more than calls. I'm using it for calls, sms, emails, authentication, system testing, meetings, slack (text based communication) - does usage time for these come into account when working out the % split between work and personal?

Hey @nost-dc,

Yes, that's correct the depreciating asset life for a mobile phone is 3 years.

When it comes to claiming the usage of the mobile phone you can use an itemised bill and work out how much you use the phone for business purposes. This'll be worked out as a percentage and calculated for the financial year. If you're only claiming incidental use ($50 or less) then you can claim .75c for phone calls and .10c for messages.
