I need to speak to someone to assist in linking my business. I have a secure MyGov ID registration and have tried via RAM etc and continue to receive error messages. No matter what time I call the ATO from WA (8am to 6pm). The instruction on the phone mentioned that “Our hotline is currently at peak and unable to take my call……please try again later”. I tried many times at any other time of the day / week, still getting the same message. Previously they do have a “call back” option where ATO will call me back after x minutes / hours. But now that is no longer an option and basically says “please try again later” then hung up.
I owe the ATO from last year and want to pay however I need to correctly link my business and my new accountant, so they can process my return and and match everything up. In the meantime I will be incurring interest.
My concern is that ATO might think I have not contact them (or not even trying to contact them) as they do not have any records that I attempted multiple times calling them. I do have record of call attempts from my phone. I can't even email them to at least prove my efforts to do the correct thing.
Our previous accountant could deal with the ATO direct but as I can't even correctly add our new accountant and bookkeeper they are unable to help me as they don't have access.
I have wasted hours and hours trying to sort this out. Is there any way of getting the ATO to call me at an agreed time?
