I needed some roof repairs completed urgently. I posted on a website that advertises and got an almost immediate call. The work has been completed. However the ABN is registered to someone I was told was "the boss", but I have been given payment details for the person I was dealing with (personal name not company name). I received an invoice but it had no payment details, no ABN and said INV0001 at the top! He texted me the payment details and then sent it separately via email. He called to let me know that they always send the payment details seperately. How do I get in touch with the true owner of the ABN to ensure that their ABN has not been stolen?

It is does seem odd that the invoice doesn't have an ABN. You can send us the details using the 'make a tip-off' form.


The only way I could think of to contact the ABN owner is to get their name from ABN lookup, and then search for them in the yellow/white pages or google.
