I would like to query about GSTon lifting fees. I have few clients who provided taxi transport services to their disable customers. In such case transport fees is split between normal fare and lifting fees. Lifting fees is basically to compensate drivers for time they take to assist disabled person with loading and unloading chair. I wonder whether there is GST on the lifting fees component of the fare or it is GST Free as it is a special service for disabled customers. Can someone please assist..Thanks
Hi @Ginni,
When it comes to taxi or ride service providers, they're required by law to be registered for GST. If they're charging a fee for the lifting service, this should have GST applied.
It'd be best if the next time you have this fee applied, you request an invoice/receipt. This would then reflect if the GST has been charged on both the taxi service and fee. This is still a whole service for the taxi, even with the lifting fee. 😊
