Hi,

I have a ticketing platform where event organisers can register an Event for ticketing, seating and other event management purposes similar to Eventbrite. My question is does my business need to charge GST on ticket price and depending on if the Event organiser is registered for GST, i payout the ticket price including gst and excluding my fee. If the Event organiser is not registered for GST, i then exlcude the gst component and pay the gst to ATO. Or i dont charge the gst on ticket price and is it the organisers responsibility to include gst in the ticket price. Thanks.

Hi @Ticketing,

This sounds like you're an agent facilitating sales in return for an agreed amount paid through a commission or similar arrangement.

Check out the info about using an agent. The event organiser is responsible for GST if they're registered for GST. You the agent must pay GST on the commission that you have been paid by the event organiser if registered for GST.

If you still have questions or still unsure. It's best if you get tailored technical assistance from us so we can look into this further and let you know.
