One of our suppliers currently only has his trading name registered under his ABN. He is in the process of registering his business name with ASIC and linking it to his ABN.

Given that there is a transition period in place until 31 October 2025 for businesses to update or register their business names due to the removal of trading names, can we treat invoices displaying trading names as valid tax invoices for GST claim purposes?

Hi @BrightLight552,

Nope!

What's important for you to see is the seller's legal or business name and ABN on the tax invoice.

Have a read of the reply from another post. It has some great info.
