Bank of Melbourne has frozen my account because I received a 20k return.

They asked me all these personal questions about my employment and why I received such a large amount of if don’t own my own business. They originally blocked my account because of a first time bank transfer and when I went to unblock it they noticed I received the large tax refund.

i rang ATO the next day and they know nothing.

what do I do as they wouldn’t give me any sort of time frame. The worst thing is I can’t even log onto my internet banking.

This is because of the online tax scams.

You need to explain to the bank how you came to get that refund.

I did but they they just said they will block it until ATO investigates it. I even offered to give them a copy of my assessment notice. They have way too much power with other people’s money
