I am a student currently receiving Youth Allowance payments from centrelink, and have just been provided with a rent certificate that needs to be signed by my landlord. They are confused by the section that says 'Details will be confirmed with ATO', however I only pay $100 per week as board and the landlord is a very good family friend. My situation is a domestic arrangement rather than any formal tenancy agreement.

I understand I may not be entitled to rent assistance, however is it still ok to fill out the form? The $100 per week I pay is not seen as rental income for my landlord as he does not want to claim deductions either, so how will the ATO still confirm any details?

Hey @joshp1108,

It certainly sounds like this is more of a domestic arrangement instead of a rental agreement.

I'd recommend to contact Centrelink directly for advice on how they'd want you to complete the form in this case.
