I got a lump sum for compassionate grounds, I paid tax on it do I get that tax back on my tax return?

Hey @Matty1980,

 

Super payments released on compassionate grounds are generally paid and taxed as a normal super lump sum, with taxable and a non-taxable components. The taxable component must be included on your tax return, as it counts towards your taxable income.


If your fund has overtaxed the lump sum, then you'd likely see a credit for the excess.
