Hi, I have purchased a new property and leased out for 5 weeks after settlement because I was out of the country at that time and moved in after i came back. My understanding is I would be able to claim depreciation for the time its leased, but what about the cost of depreciation schedule? can I claim the full cost or proportionally to the time its leased? Thanks

The depreciation schedule from a licensed quantity surveyor is a tax deductible expense. The full cost is claimable. However the cost of the schedule may be more than what you can claim as a deduction. (if it is only going to be 5 weeks).

Thank you this is good to hear. Considering it may turn into investment property in the future, i think it still worth it.
