Hi, I am currently a university student, with a casual job, who's looking to work online. I am wondering how I am supposed to declare the income as the website I'm working from is not necessarily an employer. It falls moreso under freelance work. I work on projects as I please and I get paid accordingly into my account.

When reporting my income both to the ATO and Centrelink how do I do that?

What is the procedure and requirements for this?

In terms of taxes, how can I pay them? Since I already have a casual job, how does this affect the payments? Is it possible for me to have a pay as you go system set up, or do I owe taxes when I lodge my tax returns every year?

Clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Keep accurate records of income and expenses. You report the income to the ATO through your tax return. Income and expenses would most likely be entered into a business schedule. If you have a tax payable after lodging your tax return due to business income the ATO will enter you into the PAYG instalment system. This link explains how it works.

How you report your income to Centrelink is not an ATO matter. Check Centrelink rules through the Services Australia website.
