I recently found out only income payed during the financial year, not all income earned, should be included on your tax return. I was on a working holiday in the UK between June and November last year. On my 2022-23 tax return, I included the income I earned in June. I now realise that that income should have been included on this year’s return, as it was payed in July. Should I include that income in this year’s return as well, and inform the ATO of my mistake so that last year’s return can be amended?

Amend the FY23 return now and then correctly include the income when you complete your next return for the year that just ended, @katew193 .
