I've ordered new prescription glasses to wear at work. (Non-deductable.) The industrial environment makes them prone to scratching so I've paid extra for a hardened coating to be applied. Is it reasonable to claim the coating cost?

Hi @DM1,
It depends, if you meet the requirements to claim a deduction for bag, case or satchel.
You can view the requirements on our Bags and cases for work items to work it out.

Hi @ DM1,
No.
The cost of glasses is a private expense. As your glasses aren’t safety glasses the hardened coating wouldn’t be a tax deduction.
