I would like to lend $15000 to my parents they live overseas. Is any limit amount to send overseas without declaring?
Hey @Tuka,
If you're sending money to family or friends overseas as a genuine gift (you expect or receive nothing in return), it won't affect your taxes and you don't need to report it to us.
If you send money electronically, your bank or financial institution might limit how much can be transferred overseas in one go. And if you're sending more than $10,000 in cash, cheques or money orders, you'll need to declare it with Austrac.
Take a look at our guide Tax on gifts and inheritances for some more great info :)
