I am a UK citizen currently on a working holiday visa in Australia. I have been trying to link my gov account to my ATO to lodge a tax return. I have answered the TFN and address questions. When I get to the next two questions I answered my super and bank account to which it told me there was an error. So I called the ATO to get a linking code. I gave them my name, dob, TFN, passport number, employers ABN, employers name. They told me it wasn’t enough to get a linking code. They never asked for my address or UK drivers license. They told me the only way is to either get a new TFN or fill out the individuals change of details form. I do not understand why I need to do this as I gave them all the information I could. They asked if I had any letters for the ATO which I don’t, if I have Medicare which I don’t or a immi account but as I am a UK citizen I’ve not needed either.
Any help on how I can get a linking code?
