Hi There

Greetings

I am New Zeland Citizen, staying and working in Australia since 2022. I am paying for Income protection and accidental protection(TPD) insurance from New Zealand insurance provider as they cover me in Australia, too. Will i be eligible to claim tax for the premiuns I pay?

Cheers

Hi @DipakJoshi2809,

Yes, you can claim income protection insurance part only of the premium. From an overseas based insurer, as a work expense.

For the accidental protection (TPD) part of the premium you can't claim. As its to do with compensation of physical injury not due to loss of wages.

You can read more about Other deductions not claimable elsewhere in your return 2024 that you may find helpful.
