Can I ask my employer to increase the amount that they are already taking out for my HECS debt?
The reason I ask is because I will have a fringe benefit amount that will affect my repayments; however, my employer will only base the repayments amounts on my taxable income and not combined together with the fringe benefits.
This will result in having a HECS debt at tax time to be repaid.
Advise your employer you don't want to claim the tax-free threshold. More tax will be withheld from your payments which will be used for your compulsory student loan repayment. Provide them with a withholding declaration form
