I am completing my 2023/24 Individual Tax Return as a single pensioner through MyGov and the estimate does not seem to calculate the SAPTO Tax Offset correctly. The ATO through MyGov says the offset is $920.13 and a tax agent has confirmed the same figure but when I calculate the offset manually (pen & paper) the offset is $2,048.13.

Why the difference?

But when I rang the ATO they said that when the return is processed the correct figure will be processed. Is this correct?

Hey @Bruce1956

Yes. We will apply the offset automatically.

When working out the offset, you can use our SAPTO calculator here.
