Hi. We purchased a mobile phone for my partner last FY. She'll claim a percentage of the deduction on it. However, as she was busy on the day of purchase, I had to go to the store. So, the receipt is on my name.
Can she still claim the expense?

Hi @ersan00,
One of the three criteria for claiming work-related deductions is that you have a record to prove the expense.
If the receipt isn't in her name, it kinda doesn't hit the mark for that. BUT if she transferred money to you covering the cost, the bank statement showing that transaction (in addition to keeping hold of the receipt) could be sufficient evidence.

Thanks for the quick response Rach.
She hasn't transferred the exact amount of the mobile phone cost to me as we already have joint bank accounts. She transferred her whole salary on that month when she received it. I assume it still counts. What do you think?
