Hi There,

I am a content creator and 100% of my product is created in Australia however 100% of my income received from the UK though they do not withhold tax. I make over $75,000 AUD / year and very much treat my enterprise as a profit making business. Do I need to be registered for GST? Is my income considered export income? Am I a small business for tax purposes? Do I declare all my income and expenses at Item 20E/M Foreign Sourced Income or P8 Business Income?

Hi @Lazared,

If you make $75,000 or more business income this can include income from overseas if the sales are connected with Australia. Then you may need to register for GST.

To register for GST, you need to see if you're entitled to an ABN first. This will mean you're a sole trader if you choose that type of business structure for yourself.

Check the info in our Taxtips for social media influencers and content creators article that you may find helpful.

Specifically, under the heading 'How do I declare my income?'. It depends on whether you're a sole trader or not how you complete your return.
