Hi, Are the 186 Visa Application Fees, and lawyer's fee tax deductible for me as an employee who was sponsored by my employer?

I am paying the below charges for my 186 visa and are those charges tax deductible?. My employer just paid the Nomination fees and I'm paying the rest.

  • Visa Application fees: $4770
  • Lawyer Service Fee: $6600.

Howdy @Securestrange,

Yes, you'll be able to claim visa fees as a deduction. As long as it was required as part of your employment.

Thanks a lot Mat for your response. Yes apparently I asked the question again yesterday in a different and I just received a response on that and it opposite to your response. So I'm confused.

Where do we draw the line on permanent residency visa fees. If the employer pays everything, they are can request a tax deduction, but if the employee is made to pay, he/she is not allowed
