We want to know if I can rent out a house to my mother in law if I have brought a property with my self managed super fund. The self managed super fund is solely in my name and is not joint with my wife. I have read it’s only immediate family that you can’t rent it to, most of the time a mother in law isn’t classed as immediate family.

Thanks in advanced.

Hi @Hlangley

Sorry, no you can’t.

Your mother in law is considered to be a related party.

Termwise, It goes - Related party — Part 8 associate of individual —- Relative
