Hi,

I will be negotiating for a fuel card in my next pay review. I drive my own vehicle to and from work and do not use it or a company vehicle for any work purposes at all.

What are the tax implications I need to be aware of for both myself, as the employee, and the business - FBT? The fuel card will be in the business name.

I have been googling and reading but I am not finding a concise answer.

I need to determine if it will be "easier" to simply have an increase in my hourly rate or more beneficial to have a fuel card.

Thanks

Howdy @Jojo33,

Since you use your vehicle solely for commuting, the fuel card will be considered a fringe benefit, making it subject to FBT.
