I left my former employer on June 9, 2023, and moved interstate for a new job. While preparing my Tax Returns for FY 2023-2024, I noticed my Income Statement incorrectly shows payments from my former employer for the entire period from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.

I contacted my former employer's accountant to correct the error, and they agreed. I then filed my taxes, excluding my former employer from my Income Statement, and had no payables.

However, I received a message from the ATO stating that I now have payables, which included my former employer's salary for the year.

I have contacted my former employer again, and they are looking into it. What should I do next? Should I call the ATO? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi @propt98,

Your old employer will need to fix the info through their payroll system. If they don't do it this way, then it's going to continue causing issues.

If the info you report is different to what's reported to us, we will amend it on our end.

It's best not to do an amendment until your old employer has reported things to us correctly.
