Hi,

I searched the forum and could not find anything that is similar to my case.

I am a PR holder but not a tax resident as I am working overseas. My salary is paid by a Government funded ODA project which is tax free so I don't know how to fill in my tax return. Assuming my annual income for FY23/24 was $90,000. Where in the tax return should this amount be added?

Many thanks for your advice/links to the relevant rules,

Yen

As a non-tax resident working and living overseas then this income is regarded as foreign sourced so there is no requirement to declare this income in an Australian tax return. See the answer to this question on this forum

Thank you. That's very helpful.

I definitely do not meet the criteria to be a tax resident but my employer did pay my super which was part of my pay deal (I could have it included in my monthly salary instead of super).

Tax-wise, I understand that the super contribution is subject to 15% tax vs. 0% as salary.

Residency wise, will the ATO require me to report my income because of the super paid by the employer?

Thanks again for your advice.
