Hi, I earn just under $100,000. I'm wondering why, when I claim work-from-home expense deductions, my tax estimate is lower than if I don't claim any deductions. Thank you.

I agree it's illogical, @Sonn333 . Deductions simply reduce your taxable income and, in turn, the amount of tax calculated. Check your entering the deductions correctly.

Claiming work-from-home expense deductions reduces your taxable income, which in turn lowers your overall tax liability. This means you owe less in taxes because the deductions decrease the amount of income that is subject to tax
