I've had enough of the excessive taxes we face in Australia. Not only do we pay a hefty income tax, but when we try to import a vehicle, we're hit with a barrage of additional taxes that make it almost unaffordable.

Take this example: importing a car worth AUD 90,000. Here's the breakdown of what we end up paying:

Customs Duty: AUD 4,500 (5% of the car's value)

GST: AUD 9,450 (10% of the car's value plus customs duty)

Luxury Car Tax (LCT): AUD 1,677.72 (33% on the value above the LCT threshold)

Stamp Duty: AUD 5,850 (6.50% of the car's value)

Other Fees: Around AUD 1,250 for import processing, quarantine, and registration

Total extra costs? A whopping AUD 22,727.72, bringing the overall price to AUD 112,727.72. That's almost an additional 25% on top of the car's original price!

As a taxpayer, it's frustrating to see how much we're being squeezed. We already contribute significantly through our income tax. This practice of taxing us multiple times over for trying to import a vehicle is unfair and unjust. And with no car manufacturing industry left in Australia, who exactly is the government protecting with these taxes?

It's time to speak up against this double taxation. Our government needs to recognize the undue financial burden this places on us and work towards a fairer taxation system.

How can I save this 25% tax on imported car? how can I buy it on my before tax income?

Howdy @workingclasd,

You'll need to get financial advice to work out how you can save on taxes. This can be provided by a licenced professional.
