Hi,

I had two jobs during FY 2023 to 2024. July to April 2024 Employer 1 and May to June 2024 Employer2. Job1 left in April 2024. I am referring to the payslip for the period ending on May 19, 2024 from Employer2 and Salary Packaging amount is mentioned in payslip.

I have a "Pre-Tax Salary Package" listed on my payslip from Both employer, which is supposed to appear on my Annual Income Statement for the year 2024 (Mygov). Employer1's Salary Packaging amount reflection on Annual Income Statement, But from employer2's salary packaging amount is not reflecting on statement.

I asked employer2, they said, "The 2023-2024 financial year’s salary packaging period runs from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024."

"Since you started your role at RCH on April 1, 2024, your income will be reflected in the 2024-2025 financial year"

My question is:-

(1) Should i mention Salary Sacrifice Amount from employer no2, in my tax return 2023-24 or tax return of the year 2024-2025. If I claim in 2023-2024 year tax return, it will show discriptancy with ATO record and it will get into audit.

Thank you

Hi @HappyAB,

Yes, it's going to need to be included in the financial year the salary sacrifice took place. However, it is something the employer is going to need to fix through their payroll software.

You can include it in yourself but it's not going to help you out for the 2024/25 FY when they report it all to us then. It will cause issues with the lodgement of your tax return.

The FBT reporting requirement for your employer runs from April 1st to March 31 but that has nothing to do with your income and salary sacrifice reporting.

Hi @HappyAB,

It'll be 2023-2024 FY.

Because employers follow the financial year for salary packaging, which is from July 2023 to June 2024.

So, your salary packaging from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, will be under 2023-2024 FY.

Thank you Simar,

If I will claim in 2023-2024 FY, there will be a miss match data. Because, on ATO portal ( prefilling report) This amount is not recorded and if I lodge tax return, including this figures and heading, ato will not consider and refund will be delay.

What should i do to bring it to ATO portal. Please note, I have already asked employer2,they said, "The 2023-2024 financial year’s salary packaging period runs from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024."

"Since you started your role at RCH on April 1, 2024, your income will be reflected in the 2024-2025 financial year"

Please note, I have a record of total amount from Employer 2 on last payslip year ending June 2024.

Thank you once again.
