My HELP loan reads "The account has pending transactions that may affect the final balance." I haven't lodged my tax return for 2023-24 as I'm sure this will affect the final balance. When I look at my HELP loan transactions, I cannot see any of the payments made by my employer for the 2023-24 financial year, so I'm assuming these payments haven't hit the ATO yet. When will my HELP debt balance be updated so I can get a better idea of what my tax return will actually be?

Hi @Maggie1994

When you lodge your return, your tax withheld from your employer will then go towards your HECS debt.

Once we process your return, you will then know the balance of your HECS debt.

The tax withheld for HECS only gets applied to your balance when you lodge your return.

Check out this article on HECS that tells you all you need to know.
