I had a full time role with my employer, and have now taken a management role for 1 day a week and dropped my full time role to 4 days a week (total 38hrs per week - note with the same employer). My employer is calling these job 2 assignments, and they are under different state awards. I am being taxed in my new role at a higher rate and not able to claim the tax free threshold, however I have the same employer so I didn't think this would be the case. Can someone please confirm what is appropriate in my case?
Hi @LeaD
If you are Australian resident for tax purposes, you are entitled to tax free threshold.
Your taxable income are the total amount of your income from your full time role and management role
For the financial year 2024-2025, tax free threshold of individual tax rates is $18,200, which means your part of income above $18,200 needs to be taxed. You have $18,200 income tax free.
