I want to cash out more than 3 weeks of Annual leave due to my financial hardship and I have plenty of AL. What things should I keep in mind before approaching my employer, and what are the tax implications?

We can’t give financial advice in this forum.
From a tax perspective, the leave payment will be treated the same as your normal income. Just be aware there may be a tax impact from receiving the payment all at once. This impact should even out once you lodge your tax return.
