Hi!

I was an international student during 2023 and until the 15th of February 2024. I'm doing my Tax Returns and I'm utterly confused by the whole Medicare box.

  • For Medicare levy exemption I had an OSHC with Allianz Care, but I think I was exempt for Medicare (as Category 3, not entitled to Medicare benefits). Nevertheless I've read somewhere that to tick that, I need to lodge the exemption separately. Is that correct, and how do I do it? Is it too late?
  • - Either way then it asks the Full 2% levy exemption or Half 2% levy exemption, and I don't know which one to use (possibly because I haven't done the application first?).

  • Under Medicare levy surcharge then it asks me whether I was covered by an appropriate level of private patient hospital cover. I think I was under the OHSC and I was never hospitalized, so is it going to be Yes or No?
  • Under Private health insurance, should I put my OSHC details? But If I say yes than it asks me for a lot of info that I do not have hold onto (like health insurer ID which is not applicable, for once).

Sorry for all the questions, the truth is everytime I try to access the help pages I get an "Access Denied" and being overseas it's very difficult to reach onto help. Any reply is deeply and bits of help are really really appreciated.
