Hi I am a general practitioner. My billings goes to the practice I work in, then they charge me a 30% service fee so I take home 70% of the billings. My question is can I tax deduct the service fee?

Thanks so much for your help Toby, I really appreciate it!

Can I just check- does it go under 'Deduction for payments to associates for principal work', or as the 'manually calculated other deductions' against my PSI?

Hi Bruce/Todd

Thanks for addressing this thread as a Tax Professional. I would highly appreciate if you could review the following and kindly advise accordingly. I found that the MyGov made it a bit easier to declare the GST and complete the BAS. However, I do not understand where to claim the GST deducted by the Surgery on their 35% commission as Admin Fee. ATO - GST Calculation Worksheet has under G1: Total Sales , G5: (G2: Export Sales +G3: GST Free Sales +G4: input Tax Credit)- Perhaps only G3 is applicable; G6: Total Sales Subject to GST (G1-G5). G7:Adjustment (if applicable), G8: Total Sales Subject to GST (G6+G7): GST on Sales = G8/11 that will show 10% as GST. Then the next section is on GST on Purchases etc. If I could present an example as Follows:

Total Sales = $9626.05 (With GST) + $1614.23 (Non GST), Admin Fee = $3934.23; GST on Admin Fee is $393.42. Reimbursed amount=$9626.05+$1614.23-$3934.23-$393.42=$6,912.63

Hence: G1=($9626.05+$1614.23)=$11,240.28, G3=$1614.23, G8=$9626.05 & GST=$9626.05/11=$875.10

Final GST = $875.10 + $393.42=$1,268.52 (GST on Sales & Admin Fee (Commission)).

Please advise if that is correct. Thanks
