Hi, I am paid weekly and I was wondering why my tax deduction was almost half of my salary. I just noticed that my tax number is not reflected in my payslip it says "tax number not received" But on my first day of work I submitted my employer the tax declaration form. Based on the ATO tax calculator, my tax should not be as much as what they are deducting. I already raised this to my manager and I hope payroll will fix this as soon as possible. If they fix it next week, I want to ask how I can get the refund for my 2 weeks of work with my overpayment of tax? I really need the money right now, I hope someone can give me advice.

Hi @teresak,

Whoa! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Yeah, if a TFN isn't provided then you're taxed at 47%. As you said you did submit it, so it must have gotten misplaced somewhere.

Hopefully they find it, otherwise you'll need to submit a new one maybe. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

As for getting your tax back. That would be up to your employer, as to claim through us you'd have to wait to lodge your next year's tax return.

If they've already reported it to us, they can do an amendment. If not, it should be a simpler process for them. ๐Ÿ˜Š
