My wife and I own the house next door to us. Our son who is unwell lives there with his family. They look after the bills and the upkeep of the place. We have not received One cent in any rent.

We want to apply for the age pension, as we want to know if this is classified as an investment property.

If this property is in addition to your main residence that you own also and is on a separate title, then it would be classed as an investment property even though it is not currently earning income. The market value of it will come into play when they determine whether you meet the asset threshold for the age pension.
