Hiya.

I'm currently looking for work, and at least two of the options I have are not from the same industry, (one in cleaning and one in food delivery).

Is there an ABN option where I would register as a freelancer where I would work a cleaning job if it becomes available and deliver food at other times?

I would like to avoid making two ABNs because I don't want to have to file returns for two of them (not worth that much effort.)

Please and thank you.

Hi @2BSure,

It sounds like you might be a sole trader, if that's the case you can only have one ABN, but you can operate multiple sole trader businesses from the one ABN, and lodge the one income tax return with all of your business income.

You can also register multiple business names through ASIC to show the separate businesses on the ABN Lookup.

Sometimes employers will make employees get ABNs to avoid some of their obligations, such as paying super, etc., have you had a look at the ATO web site to work out if you are an employee or independant contractor?
